Job description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Front-End Mechanic is responsible for the setup, adjusting, repairing, maintaining, and overhaul of front-End related equipment in a safe manner.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Help build a zero-accident culture in the plant. Prioritize safety as our #1 value and lead by example on following all safety rules. Participate in promoting safe work behaviors. Take proactive approach to safety in the plant along with active participation in the plant safety programs.
• Understands and complies with position related safety SOPs and work instructions especially for Lockout/ Tagout, Chemical Handling, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Rebuild, repair, or overhaul machinery of front end can manufacturing and other equipment.
• Modify, remove, install, adjust, synchronize, make, or repair equipment/parts, as required. This could include large presses and dies, deep drawing and trimming equipment, transfer equipment, various electrical and mechanical control devices.
• Instruct, train, and certify mechanics, as directed.
• Make proper diagnosis, adjustment, repair, and set up of assigned equipment.
• Read and interpret computer information system reports; work from verbal or written instructions to determine need for and a planned repair, overhaul, setup, etc. required on various types of equipment.
• Determine inspection of work specifications.
• Use full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform required inspection before, during, and after a rebuild, repair, or overhaul.
• Determine and make most efficient setup and operate machine tools, taking into consideration such things as type of material, tolerances to be held, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool speeds and feeds.
• Exhibit a thorough knowledge of machines and mechanical principles involved in the repair including timing, synchronizing, and aligning the mechanical action so that, under power, the assemblies are mechanically coordinated.
• Set up and test can equipment under power for mechanical difficulties, tracing their source and correcting.
• Operate, clear jams, lubricate, and clean, as required,
• Utilize direct and indirect materials to keep equipment operational.
• Perform other duties, as assigned

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• Familiar with personal protective equipment.
• Mechanically inclined; familiar with hand tools.
• Familiar with proper handling of chemicals/solvents.
• Familiar with material safety data sheets.
• Experience in manufacturing preferred
• Ability to navigate computer-based programs.
• Decorator/Printer Operator Experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Able to stand for a long duration in excess of 8 hours.
• Able to bend over and rotate body repeatedly.
• Able to lift to 40 pounds.
• Able to withstand heat, cold, vibrations, odors, fumes, and loud noise.
• Able to climb stairs frequently.

The starting hourly base for this role is $33.01 and goes up to $40.80 dependent on years of service within the company. Please note that the wage provided is a good faith estimate and is only applicable for California residents. The wage could be different for applicants who do not reside in California.
