Job description
Sheakley is hiring a safety manager for our client in Cincinnati, OH. Our client is a consumer products manufacturing company, heavily involved in chemicals, chemical blending and liquid filling.
Compensation Package: $80-$100,000 salary
Staffing Type: Direct Hire W2 Full Benefits
Scope of Work: Safety Manager for a manufacturer specializing in chemical blending and liquid filling.
Position approx Start: ASAP
Position Hours/Schedule: 40 Hours, 1st shift
Certification Requirements: 4 year degree in safety is preferred with manufacturing experience.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities :
- Lead the development and evolution of the corporate safety vision. Continuously promotes the vision so that it becomes a part of the organizational culture.
- Provides quarterly updates (or more frequently as needed) to the executive leadership. Updates the broader leadership team weekly on all safety related matters.
- Ensure client remains compliant with OSHA regulations (training, OSHA 300 logs, etc). Conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training to meet OSHA requirements.
- Reviews the all raw materials used in production and develops guidelines for handling and employee safety.
- Oversees all metrics associated with corporate safety results. Develops incentive systems to continuously improve safety metrics.
- Continuously engage in required site leadership safety training programs to stay abreast of the changing safety requirements and improve the sites safety performance.
- Establish and oversee a safety committee to support the safety program.
- Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures
- Works with Regulatory Affairs and R&D to evaluate health and safety practices and procedures for risk assessment.
- Trains team members to inspect equipment for unsafe workplace conditions. Makes a daily practice of conducting safety audits in the facility to identify unsafe conditions.
- Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies
- Investigate accidents and incidents to find root cause and take prevention measures for further incidents
Qualifications/Education/ Experience:
Three to five years of directly related experience in construction health and safety training and consultation experience is required.
Requirements
- OSHA 30 and/or 500 510 511
- Solid knowledge of EHS standards, and industry regulatory standards in construction, with the ability to communicate such standards to others.
- 3-5 years of construction safety and health experience.
- Excellent public speaking abilities.
- Energetic, ambitious, assertive, and an excellent communicator.
- OSHA outreach training experience preferred.
- Able to meet deadlines, and work independently without direct supervision, as well as in a team environment.
- OSHA and regulatory safety training experience.
Skills, Specialized Knowledge, and Abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Outgoing personality, self-motivated
- Excellent customer service, telephone, electronic, and written communication skills. Analyze and recommend improvements for safe work practices, policies, and training programs.
- Technical experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Use of standard office equipment.
- Organization, attention to detail, flexibility, and strong ability to multi-task interfacing with multiple client situations on any given workday.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision. Must embrace a team-based, initiative-driven environment.
- Effectively work with others to build consensus and rapport
- Work conditions are typically warehouse, clinical, manufacturing facilities, construction projects, and field conditions. May require working after hours, occasional weekends to respond to emergency or non-emergency situations
