Semmes Murphey Clinic's mission is to deliver the best care for people suffering from neurological illnesses while advancing the field of neuroscience. The physicians and healthcare professionals at Semmes Murphey Clinic will provide each patient with the best care possible.
The Medical Assistant's primary responsibility is to assist physicians and nurses in the examination and treatment of patients.
The typical hours for this position would be Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, but could vary based off of clinic schedule.
Possible travel to satellite offices will also be required for this position.

We are looking for someone who can:
- Prepare rooms, equipment and supplies for examination of patients; clean and sterilize instruments
- Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height), and record information in patient chart; report abnormal values to nurse and/or provider
- Assist physician with instruments and materials during examinations
- Perform staple and suture removal and wound care using aseptic technique
- Give injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient, and provide compassionate care
- Help coordinate patient referrals by scheduling outside appointments, tests and procedures
- Complete time-sensitive precertifications for tests and procedures
- Accurately key data into computer to maintain office and patient records
- Work collaboratively with nurse to facilitate efficient clinic workflow and to ensure quality patient care and physician satisfaction
- Comply with HIPAA and OSHA requirements
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Medical Assistant Program
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) designation
- BLS certification
Preferred:
- One (1) year experience in an outpatient/clinic environment
