Job description

To carry out preparation, repairs and scheduled maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment, work to be carried out within the company’s procedures and policies, ensuring that the work is carried in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.

In this role the candidate will maintain and repair heavy construction plant and associated equipment, involving but not limited to,

• Welding to plant and auxiliary equipment.
• Welding to tooling, including augers and vibro tooling.
• Will be dismantling and reassembling equipment where necessary to carry out the primary task of welding.
• Will support fitters in the yard under the instruction of the Yard Manager/Supervisor.
• Must ensure that all paperwork is kept up to date.
• Must attend daily briefings prior to the start of shifts whether in the yard or on site to ensure that they are aware of the daily activities and their roles and responsibilities.
• Will need to ensure compliance with business procedures and ensure a relentless focus on safety.

The candidate must have a valid CSCS card and have at least 5 years’ experience of welding heavy construction plant and equipment and have relevant qualifications. The candidate will be required to use their own initiative and judgement in the role, and they must know when to refer issues to the Yard Manager/Supervisor. They must be both focussed and thorough and have the credibility to advise senior management when something needs immediate redress. The candidate should always have a conscientious and caring attitude towards their work and fellow workmates.
