Primary Purpose of Department:

The Department of Applied Physiology, Health, & Clinical Sciences in an interdisciplinary unit that strives to enhance lifelong optimal health in diverse populations through scholarly research, teaching, and community engagement. It is one of four academic units within the College of Health and Human Services. Our programs include a B.S. in Exercise Science (CAAHEP-accredited); M.S. in Athletic Training (CAATE-accredited); M.S. in Kinesiology consisting of Applied Physiology (research focus), Strength & Conditioning, and CAAHEP-accredited clinical exercise physiology concentrations; B.S. in Respiratory Therapy and M.S. in Respiratory Care. Additionally, the Department has faculty affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Biology (

Description of Work:

Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Applied Physiology, Health, & Clinical Sciences is seeking a dynamic leader to direct our interprofessional Anatomy & Physiology sequence. The faculty member will teach and mentor a multicultural student population in A&P lecture courses, facilitate lecture and lab integration, supervise laboratory teaching assistants, oversee the virtual and dry labs, and integrate interprofessional needs within the A&P sequence. This faculty member will also engage community resources and adjuncts to support student outcomes. Service to the unit, college, and university are also expected in this role.

Minimum Experience/Education:

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:

A Master’s degree in a discipline related to biology, kinesiology, or health sciences is required and a doctoral degree is preferred. Teaching experience in a related area and familiarity with learning management platforms are required. Familiarity with A&P teaching technologies is preferred. Experience with supervision of a diverse student population is preferred.
