Job Summary: The Alaska Native Education (ANE) Cultural Enrichment Specialist assists in the implementation of cultural connections, provides direct academic and social-emotional support to students, including migrant education-eligible students, and acts as an overall bridge between home and school.
Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 7 $21.40 - $33.81 DOE
Work hours: 7 hours per day
Work year: 10 months
Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)
Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position): * Must meet at least one of the following three qualifications:
- A high school diploma, or equivalent, and have completed the ParaProfessional Assessment, or have the ability to pass the ParaProfessional Assessment within four (4) months of hire; or
- An associate’s degree or higher; or
- Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or the equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience working with AN/AI students.
- Possess an understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles, and ability to work effectively with Alaska Native populations.
- Strong computer skills including the ability to maintain sensitive, confidential data. Ability to communicate effectively by email, manage files, and navigate and complete logs using PowerSchool Premier.
- Skilled in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, in addition to keeping accurate records, time management and organizational skills.
- Education/experience in trauma-informed instructional strategies.
- Commitment to the philosophy that all children can succeed.
- Education/experience working with high-risk youth; experience working with ethnically and linguistically diverse student population.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with others.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, coordinate, and prioritize daily schedule.
- Must be able to travel to various schools and offices within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. While driving on district business, a valid driver’s license as well as current insurance and vehicle registration is required.
