Job Description
- Translation of project scoping documents to system design.
- Design and review of Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and other key engineering documentation for various facility systems.
- Origination and review of system design criteria.
- Initiate and review discipline calculations.
- Design and review of digital and analog control logic.
- Initiate and review of instrumentation, control valve and control system package specifications.
- Initiate and review of material/service requisitions and data sheets.
- Initiate and review instrumentation and control system package specifications.
- Initiate and review technical bid evaluations.
- Design and review layout of plant control rooms and control system network architecture schemes.
- Review location and arrangement of DCS and other control cabinets within plant.
- Review facility control system I/O allocation and graphical displays.
- Review tubing and instrument installation design.
- Review supplier data and documentation to ensure project specifications are satisfied.
- Participate in supplier control system factory acceptance testing.
- Coordinate work tasks with other interfacing engineering disciplines.
- Coordinate and track work to go items to completion.
- Estimate staffing needs, budgets and schedules.
- Conduct employee performance appraisals in accordance with approved procedures.
- Interface with functional management on technical and personnel issues.
- Provide training and guidance to the discipline engineering team.
- Lead team(s) as directed by Engineering Group Supervisor.
- Perform other assigned tasks and provide back-up support to the Engineering Group Supervisor.
Skills Required
- The candidate must have a minimum of four (4) years' experience in an engineering leadership or a supervisory role, including planning work and executing work on a budget.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication, planning and organizational skills.
- Must have a good knowledge of Company's administrative practices.
- Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
- Experience with project controls scheduling, estimating engineering efforts, planning, and work packaging.
- Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.) and other related computer programs required to perform job functions.
- Extensive knowledge and application of ANSI/IEEE Standards.
- Experience in process control system software development.
- Extensive knowledge of control systems engineering work processes, procedures, and specifications.
- Previous Company and/or DOD project experience.
- Knowledge of Company guides and standards.
- Knowledge of Company Digital Supply Chain System and/or Oracle Agile for material requisitions.
- Lead or supervisory experience on large projects.
- Experience planning and executing work in an Earned Value Management System environment.
- Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
- Experience creating specifications in SpecsIntact.
- Experience with design drawings using Revit.
Education/Training/Certifications
- BS or advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited university or college with nine (9) years of progressive related instrumentation and control systems design engineering experience, or in lieu of degree, candidate must have fifteen (15) years’ progressive related instrumentation and control systems design engineering experience.
- Current (not expired) U.S. Professional Engineering License.
Additional Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Willingness to travel on business trips in support of the project.
- Active DOD Secret Security Clearance.
Pay Rate/Salary
- Base Compensation: $58.60/hour - $126.70/hour (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location.)
