About The Role
The successful candidate will provide leadership and technical expertise for the design of overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems. The person will work closely with customers through all phases of the project to ensure a quality final product. They will uphold the culture of Utilitra, including relationship building with customers as well as general behavior on Utilitra or client premises or at Utilitra sponsored events.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform design activities associated with the layout of electrical distribution systems
- Create physical layout drawings for electrical systems when needed
- Conduct field audits for the construction of electrical power systems
- Work closely with clients to determine project scope and requirements
- Assist customers and clients in problem resolution
- Mentor and provide technical expertise to other team members
- Foster a safe, productive job-site environment and quality work products; encourages an attitude of safety and quality in others
- Present information to individuals and groups; prepares reports and presentations
- Ensure work product is high quality, timely and efficient
- Complete daily contract administration
- Coordinate field and office work with others on the team
- Lead project meetings
- Cross-train in other department roles to further advancement
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to acquire license within one year
- Five (5) + years of experience in the engineering/utility industry
- Bachelors' degree from an accredited school in an engineering discipline
- Must have exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies
- Proficient in the use of Utility design software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with CAD and/or MicroStation design tools
- Willingness to participate in a team environment
- Willingness to work in an outdoor environment
- Willingness to work at project sites requiring an occasional overnight stay
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver's license
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
- Contractual related project/work environment
Physical Requirements:
- Extensive reading of both written figures and words, typed reports, and computer screens
- Data entry up to 6 hours per day
- Phone communication approximately 1 hour per day
- Sitting for prolonged periods in meetings can be four or more hours each day
- Communicating verbally with other staff, contractors, vendors, and customers continual
- Moving between meetings and buildings to communicate with customers, usually less than 1 hour per day
- Occasional lifting
- Occasional stooping, reaching, or bending
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional overnight travel
