JOB SUMMARY
The Director, QA Engineering is responsible for directing and managing the QA engineering staff and facilities. Implement and enhance consistent engineering practices to ensure stable product delivery aligned with company initiatives and expectations. Support operations including technical services and production platforms. Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies with Senior Director, Quality Engineering. Define quality standards and testing processes, ensuring the quality and usability of products, and leads teams of QA professionals. Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, manages testing activities, tracks quality metrics, and drives continuous improvement efforts to deliver high-quality products that meet customer expectations. Helps foster an environment of continuous learning and team development. Direct project planning, capital budgeting and assist with business plan development. Ensure a high degree of cross functional communication and participation in line with product deployment and support
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
- Responsible for providing leadership, direction and technical guidance specific to physical and virtual testing for the Digital Marketing Site Initiatives.
- Leads an innovative, collaborative work team to produce exceptional results delivering the customer experience.
- Develops quality plans and test strategies for any development initiative
- Leads the direction of the planning, coordination, and execution of various testing activities, such as functional testing, regression testing, and performance testing
- Establishes and tracks quality metrics to assess the effectiveness of quality assurance efforts and product performance
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the QA team and tools
- Leads and manages the QA team, including training and mentoring team members
- Has extensive hands-on automation framework experience
- Responsible for release sign-offs
- Has experience and implementation in CI/CD pipelines for QA organization
- Responsible for understanding business dynamics and requirements, and running test cases against them to minimize the production defects
- Track/monitor emerging Internet technologies for website design, development, and deployment.
- Coordinate cross functionally to ensure web site launches are on time, on target and within budget.
- Manage a team and budget for multiple employees.
- Leads the creation and execution of test cases for functional, regression, and end-to-end testing, including both back-end and front-end testing of entire systems, subsystems, and interfaces to other systems.
- Manages test environments and ensures they are representative of production.
- Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in the QA environments to better support
- SDLC time to market and enhance the effectiveness of QA processes and deliverables.
- Integrates new and existing test automation tools and scripts into the new Test Data Management framework using selenium and UFT.
- Sets up and maintains test data and test environments.
- Creates traceability and requirements coverage matrices to ensure the quality of the features under test.
- Creates valid estimates regarding effort for tasks and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Works closely with the various teams to get builds deployed and verified in test environments.
- Verifies deployments for both major and patch releases
- Directs quality control programs for engineering operations and consistent operational procedures.
- Reviews selections on bids for contracted projects, and provide recommendations as necessary.
- Directs capital budget process, executes approved budget plan.
- Ensures adherence to company TQA policies.
- Leads and participates in succession planning.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to lead, motivate and grow a team of developers and web marketing strategists
- Ability to manage all phases of a large project from beginning to end with sufficient autonomy
- Ability to work well with people from all levels of the organization, many different disciplines and varying degrees of technical and business experience
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to make recommendations based on analysis and expertise
- Highly developed capacity for teamwork and a strong focus on the customer
- Knowledge of Internet programming languages and Automation Test Frameworks
- Knowledge of Test platform and tools like postman, octane,saucelab,blazemeter
- Understanding of application development methodologies
- Knowledge of installing, upgrading, and maintaining Web servers and associated operating systems
- Ability to manage and foster change
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
- Management/Test team lead experience –10+years
- Combined experience in Quality Assurance for technology solutions - 7+ years
- Experience in managing resources onshore and offshore directly - 5+ years
- Hands on experience as an individual contributor in a Testing or otherwise technical or software-based role - 5 years
- Leadership experience managing or overseeing a software development Or quality assurance team - 5 years
- Related industry experience (cable, telecommunications, software/online Services) - 10 years
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including business - 10 years
- Development, engineering, support and management - 4-6 years
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Knowledge of cable television, high-speed Internet and phone products and services preferred
Preferred Related Work Experience and Number of Years
- Comprehensive experience with structuring, developing, and implementing interactive corporate Web sites
- Agency management experience
