Job description

Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a System Administrator (Data Architect) for the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development. This position supports the research team working on the statewide longitudinal database – New Jersey Statewide Data System ( NJSDS ) and is primarily responsible for designing and implementing effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve administrative data for research.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

• Analyzes existing and anticipated data elements to provide leadership with proposed database organizational strategies to increase the accessibility of the data warehouse for researchers.
• Creates database design documentation, ensure security protocols are followed, and establishes processes for coordinating the ingestion of master, reference, and metadata to ensure proper cross-source data linkages.
• Collaborates with Center researchers and working with state agency data stewards to understand and document data layouts and parameters.
• Under the direction of the System Administrator, the Data Architect will be a member of the Research and Evaluation team primarily focused on the NJSDS system working with related research staff and external partners.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Requires a bachelor's degree preferably in computer science or information systems or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
