Van-Am Tool & Engineering is a custom manufacturer located in St. Joseph, MO. We are seeking strong candidates in a variety of positions to join our outstanding team!
Day Shift: 5:00AM - 3:30PM, M-Th - 4 Days
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with expertise in complex welding processes. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of welding operations, with a specific focus on complex welding projects. In addition to traditional CWI responsibilities, this role will involve leading and managing NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) audits to ensure adherence to industry standards and specifications.
Responsibilities for CWI:
- Welding Inspection:
- Conduct thorough inspections of complex welding processes, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and engineering drawings to verify the accuracy and quality of welds.
NADCAP Audit Management:
- Lead and coordinate NADCAP audits related to welding processes.
- Develop and implement audit plans to assess and verify compliance with NADCAP requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address findings from NADCAP audits and implement corrective actions.
Procedure Review and Approval:
- Review and evaluate welding procedures to ensure they meet industry standards and client requirements.
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations for the improvement of welding procedures.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of welding inspections, NADCAP audit findings, and corrective actions taken.
- Generate comprehensive reports summarizing inspection and audit results for internal and external stakeholders.
Training and Education:
- Conduct training sessions for welding personnel on relevant standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Stay current with industry advancements and disseminate knowledge to the team.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to address welding-related issues and improve overall quality performance.
Qualifications:
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is required.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in complex welding processes, including TIG, MIG, and Laser.
- Previous experience managing and conducting NADCAP audits in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of welding codes and standards, such as AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.6, D17.1, and ASME Section IX.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
