About the Role
Bonhams Skinner is seeking a Head of Sale in American Furniture to work as part of a team to appraise, research, catalogue, and market the material within this department. We are looking for a personable, detail-oriented individual who has the knowledge and skills to further the growth of this important area.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-auction and post-auction support including inventory, cataloguing, photography assistance, etc.
- Coordinate with Skinner inventory and production departments.
- Receive inquiries for auction appraisals and take in consignment material under supervision of the department head.
- Provide the department head with administrative and logistical support as needed.
- Liaise into the Skinner auction schedule to aid with sale registration, internet bidding and phone bidding.
Key Skills & Attributes
- Bachelor's degree in art history or a related field is desired; minimum 2 years' experience in the auction (or related) industry.
- Strong foundation of knowledge in American Furniture & Decorative Arts
- Attention to detail, aesthetic sense, can-do attitude, ability to juggle multiple tasks, adhere to strict deadlines, and work collaboratively as a team member a must.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; end-user proficiency with online and social media platforms such as Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter.
- Ability to learn existing Auction and Inventory Management System.
