Job description

Title: Remote Staff Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team in a remote capacity. This position will oversee financial services and control functions for assigned hotels, ensuring timely reporting of operating results and maintaining the integrity of the management information system.

Salary: $60,000

Essential Responsibilities:

- Manage the month-end closing process and accounting for assigned properties within specified timeframes, following company policies, procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and the Uniform System of Accounts.
- Oversee all accounting functions for assigned properties, including balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow statements, projections, and daily cash management.
- Prepare and review sales, use, occupancy tax returns, and other external reports as required.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements.
- Conduct property and financial review sessions with operational teams and ownership representatives as needed.
- Plan and implement accounting procedures and systems.
- Participate in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with management agreements for assigned properties in the area of financial operations.
- Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure overall payroll processes comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure accurate and timely compilation and submission of all financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and other information required by the company.
- Maintain and secure legal, treasury, and tax documentation for assigned properties, ensuring all statutory and fiscal reporting requirements are met.
- Oversee the preparation of governmental reports and handle inquiries from government agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service.
- Assist in new property development, takeovers, due diligence, and document interpretation.
- Coordinate external audits and year-end workpapers for ownership for assigned properties.
- Carry out additional assignments as delegated by the Corporate Controller/VP of Finance.
- Understand and practice all company safety and security procedures, including emergency evacuation, accident reporting, right to know law, information security, bloodborne pathogen procedures, anti-harassment policy, and violence in the workplace policy.
- Comply with all company uniform, dress code, and appearance standards.

Qualifications:

- 2+ years of accounting experience in the hotel environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and strong computer skills with a natural understanding for digital troubleshooting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven training, communication, leadership, and financial management skills.
- Ability to multitask, adapt to change, think quickly, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment while maintaining calmness, composure, and hospitality.
- Successful completion of a background check.
