Job description
We are looking for qualified Drill Operators for the Ohio market.
The Drill Operator is responsible for the operation of all equipment necessary for the installation of communications civil infrastructure on assigned projects, in alignment with all specifications, appropriate codes, and all company policies, procedures, key objectives, and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Horizontal Directional Drill machinery for installation of underground telecommunications cable conduit, including fiber optic cables;
- Operate and work around heavy equipment and machinery including assisting the driller with the operation of the drill;
- Perform proper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment;
- Confirm bore path with drill locator (including walking the bore path);
- Ensure the safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities;
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned in order to help the team complete a project.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of drill operating experience;
- A valid, unrestricted CDL class A/B is a must;
- Proven experience in underground utility construction;
- Read, understand, and interpret engineering plans and specifications;
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, and drive or ride in a vehicle for long periods of time;
- Ability to work 5-6 days per week in an all-weather environment and be willing to travel as required.
