Role: RRT / Registered Respiratory Therapist (ICU)
Location: College Station, TX
Type: Permanent Full Time (NIght)
Proposed Hours: 36Hrs./Week
Shift Time: 3 X 12 (07:00 PM to 07:00 AM)
Summary: - Registered Respiratory Therapist will partner as part of a collective team in a thriving culture of learning and advancement, leveraging various scientific values, therapies, and techniques to optimize patient care and outcomes.
- General knowledge of Respiratory Care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications. Able to read, write and follow flow chart protocols as appropriate.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- General computer skills, including but not limited to data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand-held scanning, and email.
Responsibilities: - Monitoring patient physiological responses to therapy such as arterial blood gases, vital signs or blood chemistry, and lung function changes, and consulting with physicians if there are adverse reactions.
- Working as part of a team of health care professionals to manage patient care by assisting with medical procedures.
- Setting up and operating devices including therapeutic gas administration apparatus, mechanical ventilators, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
- Following specified parameters of treatment.
- Providing emergency care, such as external cardiac massage, artificial respiration, or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Care is administered in a quality manner of excellence that is in accordance with established procedures.
- Administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergency situations.
- Adheres to established policies including but not limited to infection control and isolation policies, HIPAA, time and attendance, and social media. Performs willingly and professionally with peers and patients to maintain the very best work environment and outcomes.
- Measuring arterial blood gases, reading prescriptions, lung capacity, and reviewing other information to assess patient condition.
- Relaying blood analysis results to a physician.
- Making emergency visits to resolve equipment problems when necessary.
- Ordering equipment repairs when necessary.
- Explaining health care treatment procedures to patients to gain cooperation.
- Checking pulmonary function in patients.
Education Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification experience Less than 1 Year.
Certification/License: RRT Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.
