Job description

The Exercise Specialist (ES) in the Outpatient Clinic assists the Provider and other staff so the office runs efficiently. The ES provides direct patient care services such as routine vital signs and gathers pertinent medical history. The ES educates and prepares the patient for office procedures and assists the Provider in the collection and preparation of specimens, office procedures, casting, discharge education, etc. The ES collects the appropriate informed consent forms and prepares the surgical packet. Under the direct supervision of the provider, the ES administers injections. As directed by the Provider, the ES notifies patient of test results and the recommended plan of care, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  1. Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Exercise Science or related field.
  2. Previous experience and knowledge of isokinetic testing, evaluation, and functional capacity evaluations.
  3. Current BCLS required.
  4. Pharmacology Class within 90 days of start date within Outpatient Clinics.
  5. Knowledge of triage parameters preferred.
  6. Operating knowledge of basic business machines, including computers.
  7. General filing knowledge and ability to operate basic office machines.
  8. Have the ability to analyze problems and determine proper cause of action related to documentation, time guidelines, and proper assignment to maximize reimbursement and insure efficient scheduling and utilization of professional staff.
  9. Ability to recognize potential problems and report items to the office coordinator or physician.
  10. Must have the ability to work independently and organize several projects.
  11. Able to remember multiple messages, information and task assignment for up to an assigned shift.
  12. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
  13. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  14. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  15. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be met.
  16. Able to transfer up to 125 pounds, with assistance, while lifting, positioning and transferring patients.
