JOB DESCRIPTION - BUSINESS MANAGER

The Business Manager is responsible for all of the temporal matters of the church and school and is charged with the overall protection of the financial assets. Specific duties and skills for a potential candidate are as follows:

  1. Bookkeeping experience and proficiency with QuickBooks and understanding of Archdiocese QB coding.
  2. Ability to review and understand profit and loss statements & balance sheets.
  3. Ensure payment of invoices and recording of all church & school cash deposits.
  4. Promptly reconcile all bank and investment statements as received.
  5. Skilled in projecting year-end income and expenses and in projecting the following year's operating and capital budgets.
  1. Manage the weekly cash flow of the church & school, ensuring liquidity to pay invoices promptly and cover payroll.
  2. Work with outside investment advisors to invest and reinvest available cash to generate additional revenue for the parish.
  1. Ability to present financial reports to the finance council of parish and school advisory board and articulate high-level matters and explain variances to budget.
  2. Make recommendations on Capital Projects as directed by the Pastor.
  1. Be familiar with HR practices and specifically HR practices of the Archdiocese. Assist Pastor & School Principal in best practices involving employee discipline and FMLA matters. Work with Archdiocese HR when needed.
  2. Ensure employee payroll is correctly established on Prime Pay and deductions for medical insurance, taxes and 403(b) withholdings are correct for every employee. Process payroll bi-weekly.
  3. Ensure employee medical benefits are accurately established with IBX, Aetna and United Concordia for dental.
  1. Manage the Blackbaud tuition collection process of the school. Ensure all families are correctly and promptly set up for billing and that new tuition accounts are established. Ensure current tuition rates for school families are rolled-over each year in Blackbaud.
  1. Overall supervisor of the office staff, which includes parish secretary and office manager.
  1. Work with maintenance staff to support day to day repairs needed and also collaboration with Pastor/Finance Council on major capital repairs or initiatives. Adhere to Archdiocese policies for major expenses.
