TIME FRAME: FESTIVAL EVENT DAYS

April 28 to May 5, 2024

POSITION SUMMARY: The Tent Ushers, under the supervision of the Usher Supervisor and the Access Program Coordinator, maintain clear pathways and accessible seating for people with disabilities. The Ushers work to keep all aisles clear since there are accessible spots on all aisles. The Additional Tent Ushers assist the full-time ushers in times of greater need (larger acts, larger crowds). Enforce all Festival policies and procedures equally, fairly and professionally without prejudice or favoritism to promote goodwill and positive relations with staff, participants, and public.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• As directed by Usher Supervisor, Maintain clear aisles in assigned tent; keep audience steadily flowing.
• Maintain at least one accessible aisle clear at all times, even during peak crowd times.
• Maintain reserved seating for people with disabilities + 1 companion throughout the tents.
• Direct people using wheelchairs and their companion to the reserved areas.
• Report medical and safety emergencies via radio or by notifying supervisor.
• Assist, inform, and guide people with disabilities.
• Be prepared to assist anyone with disabilities to evacuate or seek shelter in the case of emergency.
• Inspect and maintain all accessible seating signage throughout the day.
• Attend and complete any required training.
• Perform all other work-related duties, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Using the Absentee Request Form, it is the responsibility of each employee and their supervisor to accurately report their absenteeism to the HR Office.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
• Must attend and complete any required training.
• Any document, computer program, design or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Jazz Festival and must be given to the Festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
• Must complete all required Feedback Forms and Final reports

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

Familiarity with ADA Title III regulations helpful. Knowledge of the Jazz Festival. Event production experience helpful. Ability to be pro-active, diplomatic, committed, and cheerful. Endurance for long hours in an active, loud and stressful production setting, working around all weather conditions.
