PROCESS ENGINEER 1

Check-Mate Manufacturing has openings for Process Engineer 1. This position responsibilities include documentation of best practices and new processes, new product launch support, product transfer support, workstation optimization, product router and instruction creation, growing into a manufacturing process expert, supporting lean / Kaizen initiatives, elimination of non-value-added operations, and manufacturing metrics tracking and reporting (OEE/FTQ). The candidate for this position must successfully apply Engineering concepts and creativity in order to build World Class Processes with our Operations, QA, HR, and Maintenance teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Includes, but may not be limited to the following
- Process Engineer 1 works hand in hand with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to document all equipment and processes.
- Process Engineer 1 develops and documents operator instructions for Check-Mate.
- Process Engineer 1 understands customer product requirements and develops standard operating procedures to ensure required standards are met.
- Process Engineer 1 refines manufacturing processes to exceed Check-Mate’s quality and cost goals.
- Process Engineer 1 specifies and designs workstations following best practices and ergonomics standards.
- Process Engineer 1 documents process set up data and operator checklists.
- Process Engineer 1 benchmark other local manufacturing facilities and cross pollinate best practices.
- Process Engineer 1 light 3-D models of tooling, product and machines using Solid Works.
- Process Engineer 1 creates drawings of shop floor, manufacturing line layouts, ideal process flows.
- Process Engineer 1 performs complex engineering analysis and payback studies for new manufacturing processes or iterations.
- Process Engineer 1 productive interaction with all levels of the organization and customers.
- Process Engineer 1 this position will be heavy in shop interaction – you will be a liaison to all shop floor associates to engineering and management.
- Process Engineer 1 this position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment/Physical Demands

- This position will spend most of the time on the shop floor. Some work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- Troubleshooting equipment and machining processes is an essential requirement of this engineering position. The ability and agility to enter confined areas while lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. is required.
- Applicant must be safety oriented. Requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
- Travel by automobile and plane is required, including international travel <10%.
- Weekend and non-standard work hours may be required by projects
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
- Internship with metal forming company
- Practical application of the scientific method for problem solving
- Exposure to project management concepts, cost analysis, statistical analysis, process control – must give specific examples
- Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively (verbal, written, and electronic)
- MS Office, 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks or Creo), Mathcad, Python programming a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and time management
- Ability to provide feedback both orally and in writing
- Must be a team player with excellent communication skills
- Must be able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines for same
