Job Summary:

This key strategic senior leadership position is a pivotal role focusing mainly on the successful delivery of the critical XM30 Combat Vehicle Program, but also includes additional American Rheinmetall Vehicles (ARV) projects and programs. The Director, Combat Vehicle Programs is responsible for delivering successful program outcomes achieving cost, schedule, and performance requirements to deliver transformational capabilities to the US Army.

We are looking for a Programs Director to work for our Sterling Heights, MI office. If you have at least 10 years’ experience in managing large complex large complex US Defense programs product development programs culminating in transition to production preferably in vehicle domain, at least 15' years' experience of increasing experience and responsibility in program engineering and program management roles culminating in key leadership role on a large complex development program and have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Vehicle Technology, Systems Engineering, Aero/Space, Mathematics, Operations Research. Requirements

Essential Functions:

• Lead the program team by example, ensuring adherence to all agreed process and operating procedures.
• Establish and maintain excellent relationship with customer ensuring customer maintains confidence in the program and the company to deliver on commitments.
• Deliver required contract deliverables and test assets on time, on budget, and meet expected performance requirements.
• Recruit key personnel in cooperation with HR in a timely manner to achieve Company an.
• Manage relationships with all stakeholders to ensure performance is optimized and be able to manage the political dimensions associated with a high profile program.
• Develop the organizational structure within the program to promote clear responsibilities and opportunities for team members to succeed in their roles.
• Deliver and control a large scale project/projects including overall budget responsibility.
• Provide final approval for all customer/ related documents/statements according to law and/or contractual conditions.
• Manage Teammates, partners, and key suppliers and the associated critical relationships to ensure the ARV team is successful.
• Develop, manage, and deliver on program revenue targets and fully support achievement of overall Company financial targets.
• Continuous Improvement of processes/efficiencies as well as product portfolio.
• Ability to travel to Germany and other sites in the USA and abroad as required.
• Undertake other duties as directed by the Managing Director of ARVGM of VSD or his/her delegate.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• XM-30 Program team

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)

• Expert knowledge and experience in the DoD acquisition process to include OTA’s and other traditional contracting mechanisms to develop platforms and other major end items.
• Expert knowledge in the application of product development processes and the engagement of supporting processes and functions to enable successful product development programs.
• Good knowledge and experience in Capture planning and execution and proven record of accomplishment in successful captures.
• Firm knowledge and experience in the development of major system proposals to include the Performance and Cost Volumes.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to present ideas at all levels of the organization and to external stakeholders and customers.

Education:

• BS, BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Vehicle Technology, Systems Engineering, Aero/Space, Mathematics, Operations Research. BA in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or related Business degree.
• MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Vehicle Technology, Management, Systems Engineering, Aero/Space

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing large complex large complex US Defense programs product development programs culminating in transition to production preferably in vehicle domain.
• 15 years of increasing experience and responsibility in program engineering and program management roles culminating in key leadership role on a large complex development program.
• Experience in working in a multi-national and multi-functional corporate environment.
• Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and procurement.
• Familiarity with the US Army TACOM/TARDEC.
• Practical ‘hands on’ attitude with the ability to operate independently.
• Experience in capture, bid contract negotiations, and planning delivery.
• Currently holds or has the ability to obtain US Defense security clearance.
• Detailed knowledge of Military Standards and Regulations.
• Ability to present technical / commercial / contractual solutions to clients and internal stakeholders
• Understanding and training in PMP, 6 Sigma, LEAN principles, Systems Engineering
• Experience with i.e. program management tools such as MS Project (WBS/IMS/IMP), SAP
• Familiarity with foreign travel and languages.

Background Prerequisites:

• Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Desired Master Level Education in Business, Engineering, Finance or related field.
