Deputy

The deputy for this position is the Lab Superintendent, Day Lab Supervisor or Quality Manager

This position serves as a deputy for the following positions: Day Lab Supervisor, QC Analyst and Lab Technicians

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises the Technicians in the Laboratory Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Understand and follow:

Environmental: Universal Waste, Hazardous Waste

Safety: All applicable OSHA Rules and Regulations

Quality: Quality Management System

Legal: all pertinent Human Resources, Environmental and Safety Laws and Regulations

Qualifications

This position requires chemistry/microbiology lab experience and baking related skills. The ability to use MS Windows particularly MS Office programs. The ability to prioritize and organize tasks. Decision to repeat tests may be made independently or directed by manager. Must be able to follow written procedures, be organized, precise, observant, efficient, capable of working with minimal supervision. Must be able to perform several tasks simultaneously while maintaining accurate timing and procedures for each task. Must be detail oriented and safety minded.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Chemistry or Food Science required, 5 years of lab technician or analyst experience, 2 to 5 years experience in similar supervisor position. Experience training and/or building teams

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to build report and trust within teams.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Ability to be CPR/First Aid certified required.
