As a District Nurse Float within the Family Planning at the East Central Public Health District (or County), you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:
Under supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.
Provides services in all programs; immunization, Family Planning, Women's Health, Diabetes, Hypertension, STD, etc. to the general public.
Assess each patient's condition, develops a plan of care, provides treatments, educates patients, and makes referrals as appropriate.
Screens and refers clients to other community service providers.
Provide treatment, administer medications/vaccines and provides preventive and maintenance care to patient/families consistent with care plans and public health protocols.
May advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
Participates in drills and exercises on pandemic influenza, mass sheltering and mass dispensing.
Completes all necessary orientation, training and preceptors.
Provides outreach services and other key preventive health services to the community.
Have a reliable transportation.
Travel is reimbursed at the State of Georgia mileage rate.
The East Central Health District services 13 counties.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND current CPR certification Preferred Qualifications: Public Health experience and trained as a expanded role nurse.

Preferred Qualifications:
Public Health experience required. Completed Expanded Role Nurse trained.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
