Job Description AECOM is actively seeking a mid-level Environmental Planner specializing in leading National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance processes for immediate employment to join our team in Denver or Fort Collins, CO. The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM specialists across the US and will have the staff resources from across the western US extending from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada available to assist in project delivery. The responsibilities of this role include: Assists clients and AECOM project manager(s) in developing and reviewing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, including Categorical Exemptions, Categorical Exclusions, Initial Studies, Environmental Assessments, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Findings of No Significant Impacts, Environment Impact Reports, and Environment Impact Statement. Supports the preparation of environmental documents such as technical reports permit application packages, and mitigation and monitoring plans. Interprets and applies applicable government codes, ordinances and regulations. Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use, physical, social and economic issues thru the collection of a variety of statistical data, maps and other graphics. Performs field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans. Assists clients and project manager(s) with the development of meeting and project materials as necessary (e.g., presentation boards, handouts, agendas and schedules) Support public meetings and assist in preparing meeting materials and compiling meeting results, including PowerPoint presentations, and other materials. Play a role in marketing and business development efforts in pursuit of new projects. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Adobe Portable Document Format application programs. Assists clients and project manager(s) in maintaining project records (e.g., electronic filing, basic database management). Attends occasional evening and/or weekend meetings based on project needs. May serve as adjunct planning staff for public agency clients. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Environmental Planning and Policies, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering). 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/ or education related to environmental planning, conservation planning, and/or natural resources planning. A valid U.S. Driver's license is required for this role. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with planning and resource agencies. Prior consulting experience Familiarity with NEPA, federal regulatory and compliance guidelines Familiarity with issues related to environmental planning, conservation planning, and/or natural resources planning. Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Adobe Portable Document Format application programs. Experience in energy, electric transmission, utility, and other industrial sectors (e.g., mining, high-tech). Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to create and maintain tracking spreadsheets and documents. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, identifying what needs to be accomplished and regularly completing tasks. recent experience with federal agencies, state agencies, tribes, and local entities. Knowledge of Google Earth and/or GIS Additional Information Due to the nature of this role, U.S Citizenship is required. Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
