Fitness and Wellbeing Coordinator
The Fitness and Wellbeing Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of the SPARTANfit Fitness and Wellness Program, developing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of fitness and wellness programming to improve the health and wellbeing of the Spartan Communit y. The ideal candidate is experienced in health promotion and will have a passion for supporting systems-level campus well-being. This staff member will work to provide organizational and administrative direction for programs and initiatives along the Social-Ecological Model, inclusive of overseeing the American College of Sports Medicine Exercise is Medicine on Campus Initiative . The Fitness and Wellbeing Coordinator will: Organize administrative components of the Health Promotion intervention strategy ; Manage intervention strategies, assessments , initiatives, progr ams , and events ; Coordinate information gathering from meetings, evaluations, and stakeholders to improve strategies and interventions ; Use findings to make recommendations and to inform key performance indicators ; Coordinate s ystems-level in tervention s across the five core principles of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion; Collaborate with campus and community partners through campus-wide coalitions and workgroups ; Conduct assessments, presentations and workshops to educate students, faculty, staff, and community partners ; Represent University Health and Wellbeing as a team member in staff meetings, committees, and conferences.
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Educational Systems development, Instructional Technology Systems, Instructional Science or a related educational programs development area, and/or a field related to the area of expertise; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the design, development and presentation of instructional programs using software or tools related to the educational programs being conducted; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Degree and experience in health promotion and exercise science/fitness Experience preparing and presenting educational materials Experience coordinating the administration of assessment and/or evaluation initiatives Experience utilizing on-line survey instruments (e.g. Qualtrics) Experience with a tiered intervention strategy Experience working in a higher education setting. Certification as a personal trainer and/or wellness coach or completion of the certification within the first year
