Job description
Halifax Health is seeking a Revenue Cycle Analyst II - HIM for the PBFS - Administration Department.
The Revenue Cycle Analyst II – HIM will perform various functions related to the departments that make up the Health Information Management sector for Halifax Health. This role will maintain an operational and technical understanding of the workflow processes performed in assigned HIM departments that they support. This role will work closely with department leadership to execute objectives, tasks and contribute to the overall success of HIM. This role will collaborate with the IT department as part of and post EPIC implementation ensuring operational effectiveness and efficiency for end-users performing HIM activities. Responsibilities of the role include bridging the gap between technical system requirements and end-user workflow to provide support where needed.
- Requires minimum bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, HIM, Healthcare Administration or legal studies related to the healthcare field
- AAPC CPC/Revenue integrity certification (preferred, not required)
- Experience in at least one Epic module: Prelude, Cadence or Grand Central (preferred, not required)
- Certification in applicable Epic module (preferred, not required)
- 10+ years of experience

- Experience interacting with ICD-10, CPT and HCPC codes and the relationships they hold to charge entry and revenue cycle processing
- Knowledge of Meditech, Athena, 3M, and Nuance preferred.
- Ability to communicate with end-users to document as-is processes and communicate the opportunity to potential technical or vendor solutions
- Knowledge of healthcare operations related to administrative processes, regulations, billing, and reimbursement concepts
- Understanding of the interactions and relationships between the technical applications within the EHR environment and the payer processing cycle
- Ability to stay informed of regulatory and compliance-related changes that are applicable to HIM portions of the business
- Ability to keep up to date with industry financial and system related advances
- Support and collaborate with multiple departments, clinical and administrative, as part of and post EPIC implementation to ensure the build of the vendor integrations supports operational needs for hospital and professional revenue cycle functions.
- Support systems including but not limited to Meditech, Athena, 3M, and Nuance
- Coordinate and collaborate with other revenue cycle departments as needed to document inputs and output needs of HIM departments
- Execute tasks in alignment with the department and organization as determined by leadership
- Provide education, training and consistent feedback loops across clinical departments to ensure the system is being used as advised for best outcomes
- Support the needs of the IT department to maintain compliance and keep good standing for required CPT/HCPC codes within the EPIC system
- Complete and participate in projects related to new or closed service lines offered by the institution to serve as the subject matter expert related to technical and operational processes with appropriate management staff
