This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.

AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

Job Duties:
Under general supervision setup and operates a variety of machine shop tools such as manual lathes, and milling machines, boring mills, CNC lathes and CNC milling machines, CNC wire and CNC sinker machines, ID/OD grinders, jig grinders, surface grinders, and other general machine shop tools to fabricate both new and replacement precision complex parts for test articles, experimental equipment, machinery, and other items; makes parts from both ferrous and non-ferrous metals and the material including high temperature resisting alloys as well as copper, bronze, brass, and non-metallic materials. Works from blueprints, drawings, sketches and oral instructions; applies standard shop mathematics in setting up work; performs all machine and hand operations including tapping holes, scraping and fitting sub-assembly work, precision grinding and lapping, drilling, filing and other operations; disassembles, assembles, installs and repairs test and operating equipment. It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy. Performs other related duties as required.

Supplementary Functions : Participation in functional specific safety training.

Basic Qualifications:

Educational Equivalent: Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent.

Specific Knowledge or Experience: Four years progressive precision machinist experience which may or may not have been as an apprentice in the trade. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and maintain access to the AEDC local area computer network.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License.

Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions.

Current U.S. Citizenship.
