The Senior Data Scientist at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will enhance and modernize machine learning offerings of data science and analytics applications. Assemble datasets required to develop and build data science and analytical prototypes and products. Interpret available internal and external data resources to develop and deliver information solutions, including analytical information, and craft a summary of exactly what data is telling us in real-world terms. Develop solutions, mathematical models, algorithms, machine learning techniques, and robust analytics to support analytic insights and visualization of complex data sets for productization and monetization. Use python libraries and APIs that are relevant to data science—such as scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, and similar tools. Write intermediate and advanced SQL queries. Utilize distributed databases and query languages including Google Big Query. Contribute to and help manage team codebase in Git repository. Work across platforms like Databricks, Jupyter notebooks and frameworks including Kedro. Develop and track business-relevant model performance measures and communicate those to business. Practice agile methodologies to develop models and perform research. Build and implement classification models using Random Forests, XGBoost, and Light-GBM. Telecommuting permitted. Salary $112,195- $203,840 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering (Computer or Industrial), or a related field, plus 6 months (or a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years) of experience as a data scientist or related occupation. Experience must include 6 months of experience with each of the following: (1) statistical analysis libraries in Python; (2) writing SQL queries; (3) machine learning techniques, including supervised learning and unsupervised learning; (4) distributed databases and query languages including Google Big Query; (5) Python; (6) Git; and (7) building and implementing classification models using Random Forests, XGBoost, and Light-GBM.
