Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UMBWMC) , a member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), is looking to add a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to our Emergency department team located on BWMC's campus in Glen Burnie, MD.
At UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center, you will have the opportunity to provide compassionate, quality care in a community hospital-based setting. We are looking for an experienced emergency medicine Advance Practice Provider to work autonomously with our supportive and collaborative Pediatric Hospitalist in our pediatric emergency room.
Job Description
* Shifts: Full time, evening shifts 2pm- midnight or 4pm- midnight
* Evaluate, diagnose and treat pediatric patients in the emergency department.
* Orders and interprets diagnostic tests
* Manage a caseload of 15 patients per day
* Collaborate with managing Pediatric Hospitalist in the ED
* Minor procedures including I&D, lacerations, suturing, splinting

Qualifications
* Master of Science degree with completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program required.
* Board Certification Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
* Required experience of 5 years in pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric urgent care or pediatric critical care medicine.
* Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required.
* Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
* Current NRP and PALS certifications
* DEA and CDS eligible.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs.
* Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters. Demonstrated/documented effective interpersonal skills.
* Maintains updated hospital safety and other mandatory training.
* Updated immunizations as recommended per practice area.
