Job description
The Graphic Designer/Project Coordinator develops designs to support a wide variety of Penn College marketing and communications projects, including publications, advertising, and promotional materials. This person will also assist College personnel by providing resources and consultation to help all departments achieve quality production of marketing and communication materials. In addition, this person will act as a liaison between Public Relations & Marketing and departments to develop and review marketing communications and work with other creatives to produce and distribute approved messages and materials.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in Advertising Art, Graphic Design or related discipline. Required
- Valid Driver's License Required
EXPERIENCE
- Two (2) year's of design work experience. Required
- Two (2) year's experience in content development, editing, and proofreading materials and informational messages. Required
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Able to analyze and understand project objectives and discern project impact on the department and College. Required
- Able to structure information for manageability and reader comprehension. Required
- Skilled problem-solver and self-starter. Required
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite design tools. Required
- Skilled in original creative design and adapting to brand guidelines. Required
- Skilled in layout, typography, and prototyping. Required
- Familiar with prepress and publishing processes. Required
- Organized and skilled in coordinating a dynamic project load. Required
- Effective collaborator and communicator. Required
- Proficient proofreader, familiar with copywriting conventions. Required
- Create artwork and full layouts for web, digital, print, and promotional materials.
- Provide creative input for the College's marketing and PR campaigns.
- Collaborate with clients to determine project audience, scope, layout, tone, and format.
- Collaborate with project leaders and clients for successful project completion.
- Work with the PRM team to create materials reflecting client and institutional goals.
- Make design-project decisions in the absence of supervisor or project-leader guidance.
- Review, edit, proofread, and critique content for accuracy and brand consistency.
- Align designs with the College's brand strategy and style guide.
- Select brand-appropriate colors, paper, typography, and design formats.
- Maintain production calendars for individual and departmental design projects.
- Develop and distribute accurate proofs that meet project requirements.
- Ensure completed projects meet goals efficiently within available resources.
- Design issues of the College's magazine and Annual Report.
- Attend photo shoots to align photography with creative direction.
- Attend campus events to aid in planning future projects and build client relationships.
- Provide design support for materials produced by other departments.
- Advise and train College staff on visual standards.
- Distribute official College logos and images as needed.
- Consult with specialists and vendors to ensure quality production.
- Use PRM’s photography database for photo selections and advise on its management.
- Use PRM’s scheduling database to record and track project status.
Limited exposure to chemicals and other substances related to the graphics and printing process. Exposure to computer monitors and other conditions related to using computers over extended periods of time. Active office environment. Constant deadline pressures.
Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the yearly salary range is $50,100 - $56,800.
