Position Summary:

The Community Colleges rely on a wide range of technology-based media for instructing students and communicating among staff and public. These media include:

The Media Specialist supports these services at a Community College by developing and producing programs and products in these multi-media areas as well as assisting and advising faculty, students and staff in their own productions. Most of the Community College system institutions have permanently installed instructional media equipment. The position supports faculty on-line and on-campus with digital materials and techniques including web site maintenance and digital services for creating and animating graphics.

Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Media Services or other administrator, the Media Specialist is accountable for providing the presentation support technology required for the College’s instruction and promotional needs through effective performance in these essential functional areas:

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to communications or instructional technology together with two (2) or more years of experience in a related field; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Anticipated Salary; $66,949 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.
