About Vancouver, Washington

Vancouver is situated on the north bank of the Columbia River, in southwestern Washington state. Vancouver is a bustling community of about 174,000 that prides itself on its rich history; rapidly growing vibrant downtown, excellent schools, and great access to outdoor activities. It’s also the county seat of Clark County, with a population of over 467,000. While offering easy access to the big city amenities of nearby Portland, OR, Vancouver maintains its own ambiance and identity, with an array of restaurants, brewpubs, wineries, parks and trails, community gardens, museums, and a large outdoor Farmer’s Market open March through October. In addition, Vancouver’s historic waterfront is rapidly developing and home to offices, restaurants, shops, housing, a hotel and a park as new development reconnects 35 acres along the Columbia River to the city’s historic core. Historic Fort Vancouver was once the largest western outpost of the British Hudson’s Bay Company, where supplies and food were bartered in the 1800s. The outpost was later recreated as the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. Pearson Field, the oldest operating airfield in the West, displays vintage aircraft at the Pearson Air Museum.

Vancouver is a fantastic location for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, cycling, kayaking and canoeing, boating, fishing, and golf. Close proximity to active volcano Mt St Helens, the stunning Columbia River Gorge, the Pacific Ocean, and the high deserts of central Washington and Oregon make Vancouver a getaway paradise, while its mild climate, with warm summers and cool, rainy winters, make outdoor activity possible year round.
