Position Summary:
The Recycling Operations Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of operations staff at the assigned site(s) as required by the Site Manager(s). This position requires travel throughout the state of Connecticut and has varying hours.
Your Role:
- Supervises staff, including but not limited to drivers, heavy equipment operators, and laborers.
- Reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality and timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
- Coordinates workflow and assignments toward the achievement of operational goals related to compliance, safety, customer service and efficiency.
- Supervises and monitors daily route operations, and reviews and controls implementation of safety regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Assists with the personnel needs of the facility including coaching, training and evaluation of employee performance.
- Takes an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.
- Provides input into termination, compensation and promotion decisions.
- Assures compliance with applicable permits and regulations.
- Conducts effective safety meetings.
- Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
- Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leve Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
Your Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Carries our supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.
Your Skills:
- Ability to complete safety, operational and other required training within a scheduled time period.
- Communication skills sufficient to complete required job functions.
- Demonstrated mechanical ability sufficient to complete regular routine tasks.
- Demonstrated success in the use of required safety equipment.
- Gritty, outgoing, and eager to learn.
- Strong communication (verbally and written)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- The environment is fast-paced, and the person in this role must be proactive, hardworking, highly organized, and an independent critical thinker.
Desirable, although not essential, requirements:
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
