Summary: BLE's Columbia, South Carolina office is seeking a technically skilled Environmental Project Manager to support the expansion of our Environmental Services Department. The individual will be responsible for conducting, directing, and/or overseeing various environmental-related projects under direction of BLE's Environmental Department Manager. This self-motivated candidate will be engaged in a variety of projects, interact directly with clients, is detail-orientated, and requires minimum direction from senior management.
Responsibilities:
The individual's primary responsibility will be to support the overall execution of environmental projects. Projects may include executing and/or directing staff with Phase I/II ESAs, brownfield assessments, hazardous materials assessments, underground storage tank assessments, feasibility studies, remediation design, and reporting activities. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain a safe working environment for BLE staff and associated subcontractors
- Perform and coordinate a wide variety of project activities involving environmental investigations and remediation while producing high quality results within the time constraints of each project
- Review and interpret environmental data; evaluate quality assurance/quality control data; identify data gaps; prepare or peer review a variety of proposals and reports
- Develop scopes of work, schedules, costs, and health and safety plans for projects in accordance with ASTM, RCRA, CERCLA and other federal and state programs
- Working knowledge of SCDHEC, NCDEQ, and GAPED Brownfields programs, underground storage tank programs, and State Trust Fund reimbursement programs
- Evaluate remedial alternatives and assist clients with developing cost-effective strategies to achieve project closure and to mitigate risks
- Negotiating with regulatory agencies on behalf of Client
- Appropriately delegate assignments to project team members and mentor junior staff
- Retain and manage technical experts and/or subcontractors to support the project
- Prepare proposals, including project budgeting
- Participate in business development activities with existing clients and developing new opportunities within the Southeastern U.S.
- Maintain and grow existing client relationships and support business development staff to generate repeat business
- Build strong collaborative relationships with the BLE team, our clients, and subcontractors while extending a high level of respect and integrity with each interaction
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
- 8+ years of related professional experience
- Ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Geologist or Engineer in South Carolina
- Must have broad working knowledge of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia's environmental regulations.
- Maintain required 40-Hour HAZWOPER training/certification and other Environmental Department certifications and licensing.
- Must have a clean driving record and be able to drive a company vehicle.
- Must pass a pre-employment background and drug test
