Position Summary/Description:
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
This position will provide pro-active counseling and will apply advanced knowledge to resolve employee relations concerns, model critical thinking for complex problems and serve as a lead consultant in developing creative solutions for departments, managers and employees in all E&MR related issues and demonstrate a high level of integrity and in-depth knowledge to ensure compliance with university, state and federal laws. This position is expected to demonstrate a high degree of independent decision-making, judgement, accountability and requires significant professional-level employee relations experience. This position provides consultation, guidance and advice to employees and all levels of management on a wide-range of employee relations topics affecting SHRA (staff) and EHRA Non-Faculty employees for assigned departments including: * Progressive disciplinary actions and involuntary separationsEducation and Experience:
Candidates with 5 or more years of professional-level employee relations experience will be strongly preferred.
Prior human resources (and ideally employee relations) experience in a public sector and/or higher education setting is preferred, but not a firm requirement. Prior experience with North Carolina State Government (e.g., SHRA ) personnel policies is desirable, but also not a requirement.About The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
