location : Salinas days/shifts : M-F, 8-5
Wage Range: 85K to 120K
CONTROLLER Responsible for managing all accounting and corporate controllership functions, staff and the execution of company accounting policies & procedures conforming to GAAP and regulatory requirements. Responsible for accurate & timely consolidation of financial statements & reporting . Work within the Company’s management system on projects, planning, and execution .
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (other duties may be assigned as needed): - Develops and enforces the company’s accounting policies and procedures.
- High level understanding of the execution of the accounting department functions and processes, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Grower Accounting and Fixed Assets, in order to assist with process improvement and root cause analysis.
- Lead projects to identify, analyze and implement appropriate systems and processes for financial controls.
- Involvement in Capital Spending process, obtain lease financing and assess accounting treatment , align to Financial Planning strategy.
- Manage the month end close process, and perform key functions including depreciation, accruals, and intercompany consolidations.
- Tie metrics to financial reporting and assist in answering questions regarding the same.
- Assist in coordination of the company financial modeling and forecast management functions.
- Assist in preparation of financial statements, bank reports, and various detailed analysis reports.
- Direct weekly cash disbursements and reporting of weekly cash flow to maintain balances within company guidelines and alerting upper management of any significant changes.
- Coordinates the annual audit to produce a timely and efficient audit by the company’s independent auditors.
- Identify, recommend, and implement accounting process changes and improvements based on audit findings and/or best business practices.
- Organize and maintain corporate records and comply with record retention requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Minimum BS degree in accounting or similar concentration plus 5 years of practical experience
- CPA certification desired
- Must have well developed management and supervisory skills.
- Highly skilled in the use and application of ERP computer systems, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Knowledgeable in GAAP accounting rules
LANGUAGE SKILLS: - Literate in English.
- Outstanding communication skills are required. Must be able to write business correspondence. Effectively present information (oral and written) and respond to questions from internal and external customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: - Ability to work mathematical concepts into everyday business situations.
- Ability to reconcile outstanding balances with source data.
- Ability to calculate variances and determine solutions.
REASONING ABILITY: - Prioritize accuracy and timeliness of transactions and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential. Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Interprets a variety of information and makes calculated decisions.
- Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to air conditioning. The employee is also exposed to cold temperatures and heat when visiting plant processing and warehousing locations. The employee may visit plant locations where the use of chemical substances is present and used in the processing plant. Employees’ work is also subject to the pressures of time constraints and deadlines. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
