Job Title: Class Coordinator

Location: 7920 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66204

Type: Full-time, Salaried, 40 hours per week (flexible hours, but generally 9:00am to 5:00pm)

Our vision is to set the standard of excellence for interactive cooking experiences and culinary arts in the Midwest. We host over 500 cooking classes and 250 private interactive cooking parties each year for thousands of people, as well as private events, interactive cooking parties, and culinary team-building sessions for local companies, organizations, families, and friend groups.

Job Description:

The Culinary Center of Kansas City is looking for a collaborative and conscientious person to join our growing team to book and manage all of our culinary arts classes offered to the general public (“guests”). The Class Coordinator will play a pivotal role in collaborating with senior management, lead instructors, and our team of contractor chefs to develop and execute a dynamic schedule of cooking classes throughout the year.

This position carries significant responsibility because our classes for the general public are a critical driver of revenue. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized and enjoys a fast-paced environment in which he/she will interact and collaborate with a diverse range of personalities (our internal team, our guests, and our culinary arts educators) to bring our vision of creating exceptional culinary experiences to life. Key Responsibilities:
● Work closely with senior management and lead instructor to determine overall strategy and goals for numbers and types of classes to be scheduled for any given period

● Collaborate with class instructors to create detailed ongoing class schedule

● Generate copy/visuals for each class, input into system, and communicate to internal team

● Work with instructors to generate class operational requirements (i.e. recipe book, equipment needs, class timeline, general class set-up, bar requirements) and communicate them to our front of house and back of house managers

● Monitor registration status of classes and work with management team to revise classes as needed to support successful execution and maintain total event and booking goals

● Work closely with instructors, chefs, and management to address any challenges and ensure successful class execution

● Act as gatekeeper for any revisions to class registration (guest additions / cancellations / moves) and provide exceptional guest service to address issues promptly

● Assist in preparation of class documents (e.g. recipe books, name tags, class roster)

● Complete administrative tasks after classes conclude to ensure that all documents are collected and instructors are paid and reimbursed correctly

● Assist in marketing and sales of classes when possible to drive guest registrations

Qualifications:

● Collaborative mindset and ability to work within a diverse team environment

● Ability to develop productive working relationships with diverse range of chef instructors

● Strong leadership and persuasion skills

● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

● Relentless focus on exceptional guest service

● Outstanding organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail

● Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment

● Strong computer skills and the capacity to learn and use a range of existing and new software platforms (e.g. WordPress, Microsoft 365, appointment booking platform)

● Previous experience in event planning/coordination, culinary education, restaurant operations, or a related field is a plus but not required
