GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a Project Engineer/Project Manager to join our team. This position is full-time and will serve the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX.

Overview:
- Manage complex, multi-discipline engineering services (both internal and subcontracted) and component or bulk material procurements in support of projects.
- Support a specific organization for all their engineering needs, including projects and minor non-project modifications and studies.
- Assist project manager(s) with the engineering effort associated with capital or expense-funded activities.
- Ensures the Engineering organization's performance of the established scope of work and directs development, maintenance, and execution of a project/task technical work scope within budget and schedule.
- Approves design deliverables and ensures that all technical input requirements are considered and incorporated, and that reviews for constructability, acceptability, operability, maintainability, safety, etc., are performed.
- Supports the execution of the approved project scope of work within cost and on schedule.
- Oversees and manages the operational engineering aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and engineering disciplines.
- Ensures effective communications exists with and among projects for which they are responsible.
Clearance & Citizenship Requirement:
- To be considered, you must have an active or very recently active DOE “Q” Clearance or DoD “Top Secret” Clearance.
- Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
- Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferred.
About the Site:
The NNSA's Pantex Plant, located in Amarillo, Texas, assembles, disassembles, tests, and evaluates nuclear weapons in support of the NNSA stockpile stewardship program while also performing research and development in conventional high explosives and serving as an interim storage site for plutonium pits removed from dismantled weapons ( energy.gov ).

COMPENSATION: GEM does not publish salary ranges on external job boards; all ranges listed are estimates made by vendors and not actual salary ranges. GEM’s offered compensation is dependent on candidates’ education, qualifications, and relevant years of experience.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of related engineering/architecture systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering, architecture, and construction methods and materials.
- Knowledge of industry regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to various engineering and architecture disciplines.
- Ability to apply technical skills of engineering and architecture to the design of facilities and/or appurtenances to facilities.
- Ability to coordinate engineering/architecture teams and collaborate with stakeholders to outline project requirements and develop scopes of work, project schedules, and budgets.
- Ability to prepare, read, and/or interpret complex engineering/architecture drawings.
- Ability to conduct formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested parties.
- Ability to review projects for technical accuracy.
- Ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word.
- Proficient use of computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, Skype; Microsoft Project, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
