Automation Scientist-DNA Production Methods
Primary Duties : The mRNA Center of Excellence at Waltham is developing an automated pipeline for the High Throughput DNA Template Production. This includes testing, validating, and releasing a number of automation methods to execute the current laboratory processes on multiple automation platforms including but not limited to Hamilton, Multiflo, Certus, Kingfisher, Lunatic, Lonza, Qpix, etc.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Work with scientists, design, and test methods on multiple automation platforms.
- Perform molecular biology experiments, including PCR, DNA purification, Cloning, miniprep, etc.
- Troubleshoot, optimize and improve the method to meet QC metrics.
- Use an Electric lab notebook to track biological samples, record experiments, and store data.
Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies : - Work with scientists, design test plans, follow work instructions, execute test runs on instruments, collect and analyze data, and write reports and summaries.
- Work with internal and external teams, implement process changes and improve the methods to meet the pipeline performance requirement.
- Work with scientists and Research Associates to prepare materials and reagents. Perform QC assays and write reports.
- Follow protocols to develop and maintain accurate lab documentation in Benchling. Document and communicate progress and results to Scientists daily.
- Perform various experiments utilizing multiple automation platforms, including Hamilton, Certus, Kingfisher, Qpix, etc.
- Collaborate with HT DNA, Automation, and Benchmarking teams to achieve objectives.
- A key user of the test methods keeps improving the methods and processes to meet and surpass the desired output metrics.
- Attention to detail, maintain thorough and accurate documentation.
- Excellent communication skills summarize the results precisely.
- Repeat multiple tests with biology samples and perform statistical analysis.
