Qualifications: - Must be a current NYS Licensed Registered Nurse. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience with three of those years in the ID/DD field.
- Previous training and Quality Assurance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of OPWDD regulations.
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience working with people with Autism is preferred.
Some Responsibilities will include: - Directly supervises Residential RN’s in the assigned cluster.
- Functions as a coach, collaborator, facilitator and support system for Residential Nurses.
- Collaborates with RN Educator to ensure AMAP training, certification and supervision of AMAP’s within the assigned cluster. Completes AMAP Certifications as needed.
- Collaborates with RN Education to develop specialized medical training, including medical guidelines and procedures. Ensures a PCP approach to trainings and guidelines. Ensures all program staff receives adequate medical training. Supports Residential Nurses with additional training needs (ie: AMAP practicums, PEG tube training, etc.)
- Provide orientation training of newly hired nurses, as assigned.
- Functions as the Residential RN for RN vacancy or leave of absence in the assigned cluster
- Ensures medical department regulatory compliance by the oversight of treatment and documentation. Monitors compliance of medical systems within the assigned cluster.
- Functions as a hospital discharge planner for hospitalized individuals in the assigned cluster. Initiates Surgical Review Committee (if indicated), conduct ongoing collaboration with hospital personnel, visits hospitalized individual regularly, and assist RN’s with discharge training of all staff.
- Works closely with agency QA team to ensure a functional, effective QA system and ensure regulatory compliance and successful DQA audit outcomes.
- Participates and follows through on recommendations from committees as assigned (i.e., Training Committee, IRC, BRC and Directors Committee)
- Assumes basic responsibilities during RN vacancy to include report writing, incident reporting, and attendance at review meetings.
- Responds to emergency situations via 24 hours, Monday – Friday on-call status.
