About the Job Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in chemistry (or closely related field).
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience.
- Understanding of laboratory analytical testing procedures, accuracy and precision.
- The Plant Chemist must be comfortable working with all levels within the organization.
- Working knowledge of statistics including the use of control charts.
- Must be able to troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate various lab instruments.
- Must be willing to be on call on off shifts and/or weekends when needed to assist with issues.
Essential Functions - Some knowledge of wet and dry methods, XRF, LECO Carbon Sulfur analysis, and ICP-EDS preferred.
- Conduct weekly and monthly checks, calibrations, cleaning, maintenance and troubleshooting of all equipment used for analytical testing in the plant.
- Conduct emergency testing required in the main lab regarding customer complaints and customer technical issues.
- Develop new analytical testing procedures.
- Assist in the training of laboratory technicians.
- Manage the inventory of laboratory consumables and equipment.
