Job description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate – Environmental, Health, and Safety plans, coordinates, and implements programs to help achieve plant risk management, employee well-being, and environmental compliance goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, implements and manages site-specific EHS programs;
- Under direction of the plant EHS Manager, conducts industrial hygiene surveys for noise, dust, and solvents;
- Conducts ergonomics studies and works with department supervision and management to implement recommendations;
- Manages perception surveys, self-risk assessment tools, and other behavior support programs;
- Chairs company employee Safety Committee meetings;
- Develops and operates activities and programs to support employee health and wellness;
- Supports workers’ compensation program, including claim management and insurance support;
- Provides first aid, evacuation, and emergency response support;
- Develops and delivers employee EHS training to groups of various sizes;
- Supports plant EHS Manager with reporting for air, waste, stormwater, and other related environmental requirements;
- Compiles and updates OSHA log and incident data for internal reporting and statistical analysis;
- Specifies and procures EHS-related equipment and supplies for the plant and employees;
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Safety or related field from an ABET-accredited college or university;
- 2 years’ EHS experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred;
- Recent college graduates or individuals with more experience will be considered;
- Able to occasionally work during off-shift or during a weekend;
- Ability to travel locally on occasion and nationally/internationally with advance notice provided;
- Proficient in MS Outlook and Office applications, including Excel;
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to clearly communicate EHS concepts and requirements with employees and plant management;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong planning and organizing skills, including budgeting, project and contractor management, and training programs.

- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit and talk, hear, and see;
- Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds;
- Occasionally be exposed to cold or hot conditions for several hours per day.
