Job description

Job Title: Utility Locator

Astra Surveying is a rapidly growing full-service surveying company specializing mostly in construction. We are seeking an experienced Utility Locator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in operating EM (electromagnetic locator equipment) and GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) to accurately locate underground utilities. The role requires the ability to read utility prints and work independently, marking water, sewer, and re-use utilities.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize EM and GPR equipment to conduct accurate and thorough utility locates.
• Interpret utility prints and other relevant documents to determine the location of underground utilities.
• Mark the location of water, sewer, and re-use utilities in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Work independently and efficiently to complete assigned tasks within specified timeframes.
• Communicate effectively with project managers and team members to coordinate work activities.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintain accurate records of field data and completed locates.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a utility locator with a focus on EM and GPR equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret utility prints and other relevant documents.
• Experience marking water, sewer, and re-use utilities preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in locating underground utilities.
• Self-sufficient and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
