Job description

Position Description:

The Director of Development is responsible for all fundraising and cultivation of donors at CWA as well as any related communications and marketing for CWA. They report directly to the Head of School and work in partnership with the Head and board members responsible for oversight of these areas. They partner with other school senior administrators to support fundraising and community engagement to ensure it runs cohesively and joyfully for all members of the community, both internally and externally.  

The Director of Development supervises all development programs including endowment, annual giving, capital campaigns, major gifts, the Family Association, Annual Auction, and alumni relations. They are effective and engaged managers that works to build their team to ensure and oversee an efficient, outgoing, and energetic development office operation.

In addition to the areas outlined in the Position Description, the Director of Development will:

Qualifications:

Candidates will possess appropriate expertise and experience for an applicant able to perform the duties as outlined in this posting and deliver consistent and excellent outcomes.

Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree and possess successful and substantial experience in event planning, fundraising, marketing/communications, and/or major gifts. Must have a proven capacity to manage a diverse group of people and demonstrated organizational skills to effectively oversee numerous processes and details. Must have excellent communications skills, a good sense of humor, the ability to relate well to people, to organize and work with volunteers, to write effectively, and to represent the school persuasively. 

Qualified candidates will possess a strong commitment to private/independent education, serve as a champion of diversity and inclusion and cultural competency, possess the capacity to work cooperatively with peers, have a keenness for working with school-aged children, a track record of a strong work ethic, and exercise a joyful sense of humor. Candidates should be able to work flexibly with various educational technologies and an ability to navigate Raiser’s Edge, Veracross, Google Workspace and Mac hardware/systems is preferred.

Physical Requirement:

Must be able to communicate and exchange information with a variety of constituents with appropriately sensitive and accurate communication skills.
