Under general supervision and with moderate latitude for independent judgement and initiative, this position serves as an academic and co-curricular advisor and mentor to student-athletes from admissions through graduation. Advisors are expected to ensure accurate course selection to maintain academic progress and NCAA eligibility, appropriate advising to engagement opportunities, assistance with understanding and maintaining financial aid eligibility, and persistence to degree completion.

Essential Functions

Through a standard holistic model, this position delivers personalized advising and support to an assigned cohort of student-athletes to enhance the student experience. Advisors are responsible for developing academic and co-curricular plans that create meaningful pathways to degree completion, promoting student engagement in high-impact practices, tracking and certifying NCAA progress toward degree requirements, and bridging students' academic, financial and social realities to ensure student success within cohort assignment.

Track and assess students' satisfactory academic progress for athletic eligibility and financial aid; provide academic assistance through the respective programs/systems including evaluating TSI and other institutional requirements.

Communicates and meets regularly with assigned cohort of student-athletes; records and maintains complete, accurate advising information and student records within appropriate platforms; participate in new student orientations including presentations/activities for new students and parents; and manage retention communication campaigns within assigned cohorts.

Communicates and collaborates with colleagues and personnel across campus, including athletics, enrollment services, academic colleges, and student life, serving as an advocate for students with campus offices and resources.

Prepares appropriate and accurate email communication, advising reports, and other academic documents; is a custodian of university documents and records; maintains a high degree of confidentiality.

Maintains compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations to ensure academic and administrative integrity.

Understands and supports the department's role in accomplishing the University's mission.

Participates in committees, professional trainings, industry conferences and conventions. Occasional travel is required.

Successfully utilizes all Microsoft Office software and institutional software systems including the student information system and online scheduling platform.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree

and

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience and/or training to the essential duties and responsibilities
