Cobb EMC has an exciting opportunity for a Metering Services & Testing Technician t o provide comprehensive training, testing, and programming in all aspects of metering. Assist in daily operations of Metering Services office, shop, and fieldwork. To install, test, and troubleshoot capacitor bank SEL or remote disconnect controls.

Schedule: 6:30am-5:00pm (4-10 hour shifts per week, weekends off)

Major Responsibilities:

NOTE: The following are major responsibilities of this position. The basic requirement of every position is to perform all tasks as assigned by the reporting authority.

Design, Programming, Installation, Testing, Troubleshooting, Maintenance, and Calibration

• Test , service, maintain, and calibrate all meters, instruments, transformers, and metering equipment.
• Ensure that all meters and related equipment are tested, programmed, and maintained per ANSI standards and manufacturer’s requirements.
• Maintain complete and accurate electronics records on meters and metering equipment that are tested and calibrated on excel spreadsheet, then upload spreadsheet to iVUE
• Research , update, and complete jobs in Cobb EMC’s latest work management system.
• Ping meters, suspend encryption, perform smart reads, and operate remote disconnect meters using the RNI system.
• Develop and edit meter programming software.
• Ensure defective equipment returns to manufacturer using RMA process.
• Direct and assist in troubleshooting and repairing capacitor bank remote disconnect controls. .
• Maintain maintenance of AMI meters and equipment.
• Direct and assist in the installation of capacitor bank remote disconnect controls and SEL controls.

Other Responsibilities

• Direct and assist team in coordinating cross-training activities.
• Assist team in researching future distribution devices.
• Assist team with member facing education and community projects: e.g. science, technology, engineering, and mathematics events (STEM)

Manufacturer Representatives and Vendors

• Establish and maintain good working relationships with manufacturer representatives and vendors.
• Determine new product advantages to recommend for purchases.
• Pursue manufacturer training of employees, when available.
• Ensure adequate scheduling for delivery.

Training

• Assist in all aspects of training in Metering Services for employees.
• Appropriately document all training

Minimum Qualifications:

Vocational/Technical school diploma in electronics, electrical engineering technology, or related field; or a combination of relevant education & equivalent work experience.

Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Metering Services & Testing Technician Sr or equivalent with the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electric utility metering equipment, or control systems (e.g. capacitor banks, and metering)

Expert working knowledge of state-of-the-art electrical meters and equipment.

Experience with Sensus FlexNet program.

Knowledge of all local, state, and national codes and regulations regarding meter installation and instrument metering

Successfully complete and pass hands on skills demonstration and written knowledge assessment.

SKILLS:

Demonstrated interpersonal and oral communication skills to effectively interact with employees and the public.

Ability to reason analytically and relate theoretical concepts to actual needs.

Adaptability to changing technical conditions, work environment, and equipmen.t

Proficiency with personal computers

Proficiency with Power Point, Excel, Word, Outlook, L+G 1132, Aclara, Honeywell, Sensus Flexnet, and Smartsheet programs.

Possess valid Georgia driver's license.
