Job description
The Safety Director will be responsible for strategic planning, organizing, implementing, managing, of initiatives to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free environment for all employees. C reating, and auditing safety programs and policies that are compliant with federal and state regulations. The role will work to identify and proactively address hazards and risks through risk assessments. Will collaboratively work with the branches and field teams to help align safety needs and serve as a mentor, educator, and resource to all.
Principle Responsibilities: - Provide safety plans and recommendations to senior leaders and their departments that define a direct roadmap toward improved safety performance and a supportive safety culture.
- Define key performance leading indicators and create specific steps to enhance and maintain best in-class safety performance.
- Create, develop, and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules, including OSHA, DOT and other similar agencies.
- Analyze safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to reduce workplace incidents and injuries.
- Facilitate safety inspections and audits at site and within vehicles to assess facility compliance with safety regulations.
- Foster a culture of safety within the organization by promoting safety awareness, accountability, and participation at all levels.
- Tracks and analyzes incident trends and communicates target specific recommendations for improved practices companywide.
- Investigates all Worker’s Comp and Property and Casualty incidents from a safety perspective to determine root case and develop controls and countermeasures to help prevent recurrences.
- Create and conduct safety related training sessions.
Education/Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, operations, business, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience 6+ years in safety management or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence, and initiative without daily interaction with management.
- Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Demonstrated ability to perform accurate work under the pressures of tight deadlines.
- Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to constructively interact with all levels of the organization and external partners.
- Proficient with Office programs such as MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
