Job description
St. Michael Catholic School is seeking an interim Curriculum Specialist for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year while the current Director of Curriculum is out on maternity leave. This person would work closely with Administration's Leadership team; serve as a teacher leader on the Academic Support Team that pushes in to classes to support math and reading instruction in PreK-Grade 5; support teachers and parents to help children be most successful, given various learning differences; participates in Professional Learning Team meetings with teachers; and supports and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, including supervision of students.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
Support the principal and duties as assigned by the principal, including but not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with Principal's Leadership team and exhibit daily leadership skills that foster collaboration with students, parents, and faculty.
- Engage in a school culture of professional learning for teachers by supporting ongoing PLT (Professional Learning Team) meetings across grade levels.
- Support teachers, as well as part-time Reading and Math academic support teachers, to analyze and apply data to meet diverse learning differences of all students.
- Work with students to support math and reading learning needs for remediation and/or enrichment, through both push in and pull-out settings, in collaboration with administration, teachers, and families.
- Work with teachers, school counselor, and academic support teachers to meet the learning needs of students - as indicated by psychological tests, behavioral evaluations, and/or observations in the classroom - by supporting reasonable accommodations.
- Analyze and interpret benchmark assessment(s) and data for the purpose of informing instruction and improving student learning, such as iReady and other common assessments.
- Analyze and interpret student achievement data and student work to inform instructional improvement, including best practices for small group instruction.
- Assist Director of Instructional Technology in implementing educational platforms used to support teaching and learning.
- Demonstrate superior and professional written and verbal communication skills, including timely follow-up, with teachers and families through calls, emails, and in-person meetings.
Other Duties and responsibilities
- Provide informal and productive feedback to classroom teachers on an as-needed basis.
- Support Admissions Director through the review of application materials relating to applicant's previous academic performance.
- Support teachers as they prepare academic data for parent meetings.
Qualifications
- Must possess or be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree (or higher) in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Leadership, or related fields.
- Hold a current North Carolina Teaching License, or an equivalent out-of-state license.
- Previous years as a successful, effective classroom teacher and/or teacher leadership experiences are highly desirable.
- A practicing Catholic preferred with thorough knowledge of the Catholic faith and ability to communicate it to wider audience in both words and actions.
