Job description
Interim Healthcare is hiring a registered nurse with experience working in a General Step Down unit! This position is a 13 week, full-time contract at a hospital located in Chesapeake, VA. The schedule for this position is Mon-Fri AM or PM shift (7pm-7am & 7am-7pm) and will require rotating weekends. The Ideal candidate MUST be proficient with EPIC, have 2-3 years of experience in a step down unit prefered (candidates with a strong nursing background will also be considered), a BLS or ACLS from the American Heart Association, and a compact or VA state license. This position offers weekly pay!

As a Registered Nurse, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:
- Care for patients with a variety of illnesses, injuries and diseases in a hospital setting
- Work with a team of physicians and oversee LPNs, CNAs, and aides providing patient care
- Examine patients, conduct assessments, document condition and report changes to physician
- Review, interpret, transcribe and carry out physician orders for patients
- Administer medication, operate and adjust specialized medical equipment, and maintain a safe environment
- Vents, IV start, Telemetry, PA Lines, Conscious Sedation, Neuro IV titration, Insulin IV, and other position specific duties
- Monitoring Vitals
- Patient Education
- Telemetry Interpretation
A few must-haves for Registered Nurses:
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program and active RN license in Virginia state
- Experience/ proficiency with EPIC
- Insulin IV experience required
- Neuro experience preferred
- Must have 3 years of experience in a step down unit but candidates with a strong nursing background may also be considered
- IV start experience
- Telemetry interpretation
- BLS/ ACLS certification (From AHA)
- NIHSS certification is a plus
- Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
- Demonstrated clinical proficiency, critical thinking skills, good communicator and compassionate
