Currently, we are seeking a Firmware Engineer II with 3-10 years of experience, based in Carlsbad, California. - Solve challenging problems related to vehicle communication protocol in embedded systems
- Provide technical direction through analysis and protocol validation of captured data
- Remain current on industry standards and best practices through conferences, trade shows and OEM visits
- Interpret captured data and test results to drive product innovation while maintaining compliance
- Work with technologies such as CAN, Kline, J1708, and serial communications.
- Understand system requirements and translate them into firmware requirements
- Work with hardware designers to start-up and troubleshoot new product designs
- Work with Customer Support Engineers to identify, troubleshoot and resolve product performance issues
- Work with Production Validation team to ensure reliable product performance
- Responsible for owning and driving technical issues to resolution
- Coordinate with other engineering teams for successful product launch and support
Must Haves
- 3-10 years of experience developing embedded systems and firmware, device drivers on a resource constrained embedded environment
- Strong background in vehicle communication protocols including ISO 14229, SAE J1979, SAE J1939 or ISO 27145 (CANbus, CANalyzer, etc.)
- Expertise in writing tests to validate software in automated test environments
- Advanced proficiency in C programming
- Experience with k-line protocols
- Experience in RTOS, Linux, or ThreadX
- Experience in board bringup
- Experience with protocols SPI, I2C, USB etc.
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Software/Computer/Automotive Engineering or similiar
Strong Pluses
- Exposure to ECU or scantool design and validation
