About the Role & Program
Do you have a passion for music, Disney, and a keen interest in pursuing a career in the music business?
Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for The Walt Disney Company, encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and also licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products!
Our team is looking for an intern to participate in overall research and support for our playlist strategy affecting key partners including Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, and Apple. You will also help with our Universal Music Group (UMG) partnership, assist on Disney-curated playlists as well as on the artist release side.
What You Will Do
Assist with UMG playlist team pitches and overall meeting prep & follow-ups
Coordinate playlist target document by using tools that include Chartmetric and Universal Music for Labels and assist with dynamic/fixed playlist curation, research, and calendar updates
Research third-party playlist curators
Support Disney Music Emporium, the online destination for all things collectible and limited edition from the legendary Disney Music catalog
Research catalog opportunities (Disney 2000s, Disney Junior, NatGeo, artist catalog, etc.)
Maintain partner playlist compliance
Help with video commentary placement opportunities at Spotify
Required Qualifications & Skills
Familiarity with music streaming service(s) such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music or similar program
Experience with using Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word
High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience (academic or internship) in related industry
Major or previous coursework in Music or related field
Education
Undergraduate students in their Junior or Senior year or recently graduated within the past 6 months preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Be at least 18 years of age
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2024 through August 2024
Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Friday schedule
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Burbank, California area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
